History Day Workshop October 20

This announcement comes from Rene Soohoo:

Lauren Danner, the Washington State History Day coordinator, will present a three-hour History Day workshop for new, current, and past History Day teachers on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Middle School.  I’ll provide sandwiches and snacks but will need to know for how many to provide.  The SW Region is committed to presenting a workshop every other year, so next year interested teachers will need to access one of the other workshops offered in Tacoma or Seattle areas.

So far, teachers from Hockinson MS, CAM Jr. High, Chief Umtuch MS, and Gaiser MS have signed up.  Some of them are already in the Causes of Conflict Teaching American History grant, and History Day is a logical extension of Classroom Based Assessments where students present their research to a “meaningful audience.”

If you’d like to attend the session, contact Rene Soohoo.
