Two of the h-net boards have had robust postings about sources for infusing music into the history classroom. One teacher – Jeff Pasley from the University of Columbia-Missouri – even posted a great assemblage of songs you can stream here. You can find more ideas on H-SHEAR (historians of the early American republic) and H-Teach (Teaching History in the university) for the heading “music to start a survey course.”) The H-Net lists are great places to eavesdrop on – or enter into – academics’ conversations about pedagogical considerations.
Another place to enter into the conversation is using this blog. What music do you use in your classroom – and when do you use it?
