I received this message from Carol Buswell about a wonderful opportunity:
We have a few spaces left for the National Archives Summer Institute – Primarily Teaching, August 3-7, 2009.
Don’t miss this opportunity to visit beautiful Seattle and learn more about:
- Narrowing your topic and “doing” history,
- Using primary sources in your classroom or library,
- The organization and holdings of the National Archives,
- Transcribing handwritten documents, and
- writing accurate citations.
Plus you will receive lots of hands-on experience finding and using primary source documents themselves, as well as hearing from historians and teachers who are using primary sources in their work.
The application fee is $100, which includes all of your materials and a few meals. All application materials can be found at http://www.archives.gov/education/primarily-teaching/overview.html
Also, we are offering 1 graduate credit hour for and additional $60.00 through Northwest Nazarene University in Boise, Idaho. 15 Clock-hours will also be available.
Hurry … there are only a few spaces left! Carol
