I’ve been amazed by the work students put together for the National History Day competition. If you’re a middle school or high school teacher, I encourage you to get your students involved; if you’re otherwise interested in history education, I encourage you to attend an event or offer to judge.
In SW Washington, the regional competition will be held February 28 at WSUV. Questions can be directed to Rene Soohoo. Other regional contests in Washington State are posted here. The state contest will be held at Green River Community College April 25; Lauren Danner is the state coordinator. The national competition is June 13-18 at the University of Maryland.
The National History Day Summer Institute (for middle and high school teachers) will be held July 13 – 18 in Philadelphia. Gary Nash from UCLA will be the lead historian. It looks incredible! The application is posted here.
