Readings: Social History of the Civil Rights Movement

Spencer Crew’s session illuminating the social history of the Civil Rights Movement comes in a month.  He writes:

My plan is to talk to the group about Civil Rights Activities before 1954 so they will know there was activity earlier and that it actually provided examples for the activities that took place afterwards.  The second half will focus on the post-1954 activities and show how the results impacted not just the African American community, but other groups as well.

Dr. Crew has suggested the following readings to be considered prior to the workshop:
