Constitutional Connections, in collaboration with the Constitutional Rights Foundation, will host a summer institute July 28 – 31 at ESD 112 in Vancouver, Washington. Featured speakers include Diana Hess and Jack M. Beard. Dr. Hess is a true expert in encouraging conversation in the Social Studies classroom; Dr. Beard’s 14 years working for the Defense Department allow him a unique perspective from which to discuss recent history: It should be a terrific four days.
The institute will center around three strands:
- Understanding constitutional dilemmas in 20th Century US history;
- Promoting effective classroom deliberation over controversial public and constitutional issues; and
- Making History instruction relevant.
The program is free but advanced registration is required. To register, contact Matt Karlsen.
